| There are 2 main options being offered this year. These should be viewed as special topics during the program as all students will participate in most parts of the program together. Regardless of the option selected, all participants will be able to go on the safari which concludes the program. | Biology/ Science Option:
Through a series of classes, lectures, discussions, and field trips students will explore various topics including species identification, the evolutionary adaptation of species, protection of endangered species, environmental degradation, and the effects of natural and human disturbances in shaping the environment. Please inquire about university credit for this option. The concluding safari provides participants first hand experience of some of the topics explored in this option. |

| Arts/ Culture Option:
Through a series of seminars, lectures, discussions and various field trips students will explore Eastern African culture. Participants will be introduced to the many tribes, traditional songs, dances, art, and customs of Kenya. |

| Community Service Activities and Special Option:
All particpants will have the opportunity to participate in CAS/ community service. However, apart from the regular CAS/Community service activities, we are developing three special projects for small groups of 5-8 students. One involves helping out in AIDS orphanage, another involves teaching in a local elementary and/or secondary school in the suburbs on Nairobi and the third involves working with both villagers and local students of a community in a district outside Nairobi to put up some structures like a library and local market. Each of these special projects will last 4-5 days. More details can be obtained directly from Geoffrey. |
