Activities
Activities at the English languages summer programs are centered around lessons learnt in class. The activities foster student interaction and encourage expression of both newly developed English language skills and students' creativity.
Physical Activities
Physical activities are an important and exciting aspect of the program. Facilities for sports activities reflect the programs concern for developing the whole person, while taking advantage of the unique northern marine and forest environment. Students can participate in sailing, kayaking, and canoeing in Pedder Bay. The swimming pool is always available for student use. Nearby Matheson Lake provides a short hike and exhilarating swim in crystal clear, clean water. Weekly tournaments are organized for soccer and baseball enthusiasts.

Creative Activities
Creative activities are an integral and essential ingredient of the summer language programs. Artistic expression is common to all cultures and students should feel comfortable approaching this global subject, regardless of background or previous art training. Emphasis is placed on personal development, discovery, and the means to enjoy the opportunity for visual self-expression. The activities involve studio work; this is the practical hands-on use of various techniques and materials. The other component of the art activity is to make students aware of West Coast indigenous art and culture.
      Creative activities include:
      • pottery: the pottery program covers all aspects of pottery making by hand, with strong emphasis on the use of the potter's wheel. Students learn the whole process including glazing, decoration techniques, and the packing and firing of gas and electric kilns
      • painting
      • printmaking, screenprinting
      • computer design, web authoring
      • photography
      • T-shirt making
      • mask making
Performing Arts
The purpose of the performing arts program is to encourage conversational English and to introduce students to ideas and activities that they may never have had a chance to do previously. Such activities include choir, drama, and dance. For example, in our drama program, all students contribute to the writing and developing of a play which is then presented by the group to the other students on the final night of celebration. This activity encourages self-expression, group dynamics and teamwork. Last years' performances included twists on popular movies and fairy tales, as well as an X-files type drama. Students are encouraged to sing and dance traditional songs from their culture. In addition, concerts are held at the College to present music and other cultural activities from Canada.
